Building Steps

This is a photo tour of some of the steps in building a new log home

First Course.jpg (295495 bytes) Log homes may be built on piers, a concrete slab, crawl space, or a basement. 
Waushara_walls.JPG (29815 bytes) After the first course of logs is laid, construction of the first floors walls continues. Doors, windows, and utility chases are cut as the walls are built. 
Waushara_stacking.JPG (37087 bytes) Construction of the first floor walls progresses rapidly. Most houses take 4 to 8 days to erect the first floor log walls.

P0002488.jpg (60360 bytes) After the second floor deck --- frequently tongue and groove --- is installed, construction of the second floor wall and roof system is begun.
